Each year the Parish Council awards a trophy to a local individual or organisation who has gone the extra mile for the village and its residents. Previous winners have included Kevin Goulding for his work on the campaign against the mast and Sandra Fisher for her sterling work in ensuring the defibrillators in the village are kept in good working order.

In 2020 the Parish Council decided to give the annual Parish Council Award to the village heroes who went above and beyond to help the community during the pandemic. In July the Chairman presented the trophy to Liz Cook for her work in organising shopping and supplies for residents. Liz kept the Award for a few weeks before passing it onto Helena and Dennis O’Byrne, for their cooking marathon making roast dinners for our older residents as a treat at Easter and for then providing delicious Afternoon Teas for the same group of residents to help them celebrate VE Day.

The next recipient was Ann Barr who also arranged for various shopping deliveries into the village including deliveries of flour and pasta from Weigh of the World which were very welcome! The Award will then be passed onto Helen Gardner who set up and now administers the Community Facebook group.

Well done to them all!
